Honey Lee was crowned Miss Korea 2006 on August 3, 2006 in Seoul, South Korea. Lee was born on March 2, 1983 in Seoul, South Korea. Lee graduated with honors from the prestigious Seoul National University. She is also a professional player of the gayageum (12-string Korean traditional instrument) and was named a gayageum prodigy by the Kumho Art Center.

Honey Lee was crowned Miss Korea 2006 on August 3, 2006 in Seoul, South Korea.

Honey Lee represented her country at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant, took place on May 28, 2007 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico. And she won the third runner-up at the pageant.

Miss Korea 2012, Kim Yu-mi

Kim Yu-mi was crowned Miss Korea 2012 at the Grand Peace Palace of Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea on July 6, 2012. Kim Yu-mi is 22 years old and stands 1.76. She will represent Korea at the Miss Universe 2013 beauty pageant in December, 2013.

SEOUL, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Lee Seong-hye, a 22-year-old student of the Parsons School of Design in New York, won the honor of South Korea's beauty queen for 2011 on Wednesday.

Lee, beaming with joy and happiness, was crowned by last year's winner Jung Sora. With the glittering crown on her head, the new Miss Korea showed her determination to promote the best of South Korea.

"I would like to attribute this honor to all those who have prayed for me and my loving family. As the winner of Miss Korea, I 'll do my best to represent South Korea and show the country's beauty and national prestige in the next one year," Lee said.

The night of glamour and excitement in search of the country's most beautiful woman ended as Lee and the six runners-up strutted on the stage with a grace and glowing smile.

The country's biggest beauty contest, which began in 1957, was held at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in central Seoul with the participation of 54 contestants.

The contestants thrilled the audience with the opening performance that they had prepared during the 26-day training period.

They also charmed the judges in their beautiful colored dresses, hoping to be the stars of the competition that would give them the opportunity to represent South Korea as Miss Korea.

After all portions of the competition were over, only seven were left on the stage, obviously nervous to find out the final results. And the honor went to Lee Seong-hye.

Lee will represent South Korea in the Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2012 competitions.

What environmental project will you create to promote the protection of Mother Earth and why?

Although environmental regulations are becoming stricter, being able to properly enforce those regulations is extremely important. Future generations don't only need to be able to enforce those restrictions but also, they need to understand why the restrictions are there in the first place. I plan to create a project that will allow Korea's children to be able to further interact with nature more intensively than they do today. I hope that this will inspire them and foster in them a love for mother Earth at a young age.

What makes you proud of the country you are representing, and what can you promote about your country?

I am proud to represent Korea because of its rich culture, wonderful history and my people's great devotion to protect the environment. Korea has an excellent public transportation system, and its citizens are taught from a young age to recycle. Since space is limited in Korea we must learn to use what we have, and the Korean people have become exceedingly efficient at it. Korea also has an excellent education system with over 83% of students attending a college or university after high school.

Describe your childhood/growing years.

When I was a young girl, instead of playing with dolls, I would always play outside. My best friend and I would play together all the time. On weekends my father liked to go hiking so his routine rubbed off on me. I enjoyed exploring Korea's beautiful mountains and natural landscapes. I also enjoyed sightseeing tours. I always liked to travel. I also loved animals. One time, I tried to raise chickens, and when the chicks died I held a memorial service for them.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years? ?

Although I liked to explore, I used to be very introvert. I was too shy to even raise my hand in class to answer questions. Every time I tried, I always felt like everyone was staring at me, and I would always blush. Eventually, I decided that if I didn't take care of my problem I would have difficulties with social relationships in the future, so I started to talk to the other students around me. Later, I decided to run for class president. Through my own hard work I was able to win the presidency. It helped me become more outgoing; which caused people to look at me differently. Everyone remembers me as a bright and outgoing person even though that wasn't always the case.

What is your environmental advocacy?

Climate change is the most serious threat to the Earth as we know it. Realistically, most natural disasters are difficult to prevent. So, in order to lessen our burden on the planet, we must look toward alternative/renewable sources of energy. The damage caused by consumption of fossil fuels is astounding. More funding and research should be put into alternative forms of energy including bio fuels and hydrogen fuel cells. Though nuclear energy is a decent alternative, incidents such as the Fukushima disaster show that we can't totally rely on nuclear or other cheap forms of energy. Proper investment and funding must be put into alternative fuels so that humans can lower their dependence on energy sources that are harmful to our environment.

On April 19th, model Kim Yuri has been reported to have committed suicide through the consumption of poison.

Kim Yuri was rushed to the a medical center in Samsung-dong, Seoul after her suicide attempt was discovered, but reports later revealed that she had unfortunately passed away. Her wake has not yet been prepared.

It seems fans were alerted of the pain she was undergoing, as just a few days before, she had written on her mini-homepage, “No matter how many times I think about it…. Over a hundred times…. I’m the only one in this world.”

Kim Yuri

Born in 1989, Kim Yuri was an English major at Hanshin University before making her modeling debut for various high-end brands like MCM and MAX MARA, as well as fashion shows like the Seoul Collection and Daegu Collection.

Netizens have been expressing their grief through her homepage and various community boards, as she was one of the models with the brightest future ahead of her.

Kim Joo-ri (Hangul: 김주리, born 1988), is the winner of Miss Korea 2009. She was also crowned as Miss Seoul 2009 before competing in Miss Korea 2009.

For the first time ever, the Miss Korea winner represent Korea in the Miss World 2009 and placed in TOP 16. This yaer she will compete in Miss Universe 2010 pageant contest.

Miss Universe 2010, the 59th edition of the pageant, will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on August 23, 2010. Miss Universe 2009, Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela, will crown her successor at the end of this event. 83 countries and territories are expected to compete for the title.
